Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) held a foundation stone laying ceremony today (Monday) for its data centre in Hong Kong’s Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate. The ceremony was officiated by the Honourable Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He was joined by HKEx Chairman Ronald Arculli, Chief Executive Charles Li, Hong Kong’s Permanent Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services) Au King-chi, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Julia Leung, Securities and Futures Commission Chairman Eddy Fong and other HKEx Directors at the event.
HKEx aims to move the primary data centre for its securities market systems to the newdata centre in the fourth quarter of 2012. Relocation of the primary data centres for other systems, such as HKEx’s derivatives market systems, to the new data centreis expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.
