DCASS (Derivatives Clearing and Settlement System) serves as a single clearing, settlement and risk management system for the HKFE Clearing Corporation Limited (HKCC) and The SEHK Options Clearing House Limited (SEOCH).

DCASS is a fully electronic and automated system capable of supporting various types of derivatives products such as equities, foreign exchange, interest rate and commodities
It shares the same technology platform and infrastructure with the derivatives trading system, Hong Kong Futures Automated Trading System (HKATS) and provides a seamless operational environment for derivatives trading and clearing
It processes clearing transactions in real-time and provides extensive access to clearing data to support the risk management functions

CCMS (Common Collateral Management System) is used to manage the collateral holdings and obligations of Clearing Participants (CPs) of HKCC and SEOCH. As an integrated part of CCASS system, CCMS is serving both Securities and Listed Derivatives markets by accepting a wide range of collateral types and providing a various range of collateral management services.

CONNECTION CONTINGENCY

In case of DCASS failover from HKEX’s primary data centre to secondary data centre, CPs should reconnect DCASS Online by switching from primary connections to secondary connections in accordance to the designated connection settings provided by HKCC/SEOCH.

For CPs with DCASS OAPIs, in the event of central gateway failure, CPs should switch their OAPI connections from primary central gateways to backup central gateways in accordance to the designated connection settings provided by HKCC/SEOCH. In the event of manual site failover, CPs should switch their OAPI connections from primary data centre central gateways to secondary data centre central gateways in accordance to the designated connection settings provided by HKCC/SEOCH. CPs can log on to Client Connect to download the “DCASS User Guide”, “Report Retrieval Solution for Listed Derivatives Markets Technical Guide” and “DCASS OAPI Manual”.

CONNECTION TO CCMS

CPs can access CCMS through browser-based terminal, CCASS or CCMS Terminal. Any PC running supported versions of Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer and Java Runtime Environment is able to access all CCMS functions.

CPs can log on to Client Connect to access the “CCASS (& CCMS) Terminal Installation Procedures” and “CCMS Terminal User Guide”.

CONNECTION TO DCASS

CPs can access to DCASS via HKEX’s Central Gateway in 2 ways:

DCASS Online: a browser based frontend application designed to support CPs with low to medium clearing volume as it facilitates manual input of post trade instructions
OMnet Application Programme Interface (OAPI): CPs can connect their back-office system to DCASS to enable straight-through-processing which can support high clearing volume. As information from DCASS will be updated on real time basis, the direct host-to-host connection alternative provided by OAPI can help CPs to improve their operational efficiency and provide better risk management control.CPs can develop DCASS OAPI themselves or acquire from software developer.DCASS OAPI testing environment is available for CPs to test their DCASS OAPI and access to testing environment is subject to charge.Prior to the production rollout of DCASS OAPI, CPs are required to arrange with HKEX to conduct certification test. Only certified DCASS OAPI is allowed to put into production and any modification is subject to re-certification by HKEX.

CONNECTIVITY

Securities and Derivatives Network (SDNet) is an integrated Optical Ethernet network infrastructure for supporting HKEX securities and derivatives trading, clearing and settlement, market data services. SDNet/2 is designed for high resilience, higher bandwidth options and lowered network round-trip latency. SDNet/2 is being supported by multiple carriers, known as Accredited Vendors.
