Highlights

- Securities Market

Market capitalisation was $36.9 trillion at the end of September 2024, an increase of 16 per cent from $31.8 trillion at the end of August 2024, and an increase of 15 per cent from $32.1 trillion for the same period last year.
The average daily turnover in September 2024 was $169.2 billion, an increase of 77 per cent when compared with $95.5 billion in August 2024, and an increase of 87 per cent from $90.3 billion for the same period last year.
The average daily turnover for the first nine months of 2024 was $113.3 billion, an increase of 3 per cent when compared with $109.7 billion for the same period last year.
The average daily turnover of ETFs for the first nine months of 2024 was $13.0 billion, an increase of 8 per cent when compared with $12.0 billion for the same period last year.
The average daily turnover of L&I Products for the first nine months of 2024 was $2.4 billion, an increase of 4 per cent when compared with $2.3 billion for the same period last year.
The average daily turnover of Debt Securities for the first nine months of 2024 was $580 million, an increase of 26 per cent when compared with $460 million for the same period last year.
On 30 September 2024, turnover reached a record high of $505.9 billion.
On 30 September 2024, turnover of Northbound Stock Connect and Southbound Stock Connect reached record high of RMB356.9 billion and HK$208.7 billion respectively.
Funds raised through IPOs# for the first nine months of 2024 was $55.6 billion, an increase of 123 per cent when compared with $24.9 billion for the same period last year.
Total funds raised for the first nine months of 2024 was $124.7 billion, an increase of 25 per cent when compared with $99.9 billion for the same period last year.

- Derivatives Market

The average daily volume of futures and options for the first nine months of 2024 was 1,515,613 contracts, an increase of 12 per cent when compared with the 1,357,363 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of equity index futures for the first nine months of 2024 was 573,264 contracts, an increase of 2 per cent when compared with the 559,445 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of equity index options for the first nine months of 2024 was 145,646 contracts, an increase of 2 per cent when compared with the 142,942 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of Stock Options for the first nine months of 2024 was 698,817 contracts, an increase of 13 per cent when compared with the 618,452 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of Stock Futures for the first nine months of 2024 was 8,026 contracts, an increase of 18 per cent when compared with the 6,804 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of RMB Currency Futures for the first nine months of 2024 was 88,355 contracts, an increase of 204 per cent when compared with the 29,019 contracts for the same period last year.
On 27 September 2024, the volume of futures and options reached a record high of 4,263,308 contracts.
On 27 September 2024, the volume of Mini Hang Seng Index Options reached a record high of 41,879 contracts.
On 13 September 2024, the volume of MSCI China Net Total Return (USD) Index Futures reached a record high of 41,606 contracts.
On 27 September 2024, the volume of Stock Futures reached a record high of 40,576 contracts.
On 27 September 2024, the volume of Stock Options reached a record high of 2,433,968 contracts.
On 30 September 2024, the volume of Hang Seng China Enterprises Index Futures Options reached a record high of 109,145 contracts.
On 30 September 2024, the volume of Weekly Hang Seng TECH Index Options reached a record high of 2,911 contracts.
