Swap Connect is a new derivatives market access scheme that will allow international investors to trade and clear onshore RMB interest rate swaps without changing their existing trading and settlement practices. The program is a collaboration between China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS), Shanghai Clearing House (SHCH) and HKEX through its clearing subsidiary OTC Clearing Hong Kong Limited (OTC Clear). SHCH and OTC Clear will build a clearing link for the clearing services. At the initial stage, Northbound Trading will commence first, allowing Hong Kong and overseas investors to participate in the Mainland derivatives market through mutual access in respect of trading, clearing and settlement.
