Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) and the Financial Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government (Nanjing FAO) today (Wednesday) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation, and in particular support Nanjing-based companies that are interested in seeking a listing in Hong Kong.

Under the MOU, HKEX and the Nanjing FAO will jointly host seminars on relevant topics for Nanjing-based organisations, as well as exchange ideas on the latest developments in the capital markets of Hong Kong and Nanjing.

The MOU was signed by HKEX's Co-Head of Sales and Marketing Christina Bao, and Director-General of Nanjing FAO Zhu Changhui, at a ceremony in HKEX Connect Hall. HKEX Co-Chief Operating Officer Bonnie Y Chan, HKEX Head of Mainland Development Mao Zhirong, Mayor of Nanjing Chen Zhichang, and Deputy Mayor of Nanjing Deng Zhiyi witnessed the signing.

Nanjing has in recent years become a significant growth centre for new economy industries such as software and information services, smart grid, biomedicine, intelligent manufacturing equipment, and new energy vehicles. The city is currently home to about 18,000 technology enterprises.
