HKEX at Sibos 2024

Mr Hsu is HKEX’s Group Chief Technology Officer, overseeing the Group’s IT infrastructure, operations, development and support functions in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He is also a member of the Management Committee at HKEX. 

Mr Hsu previously worked with HSBC, where he was Chief Information Officer Asia Pacific since May 2019. Prior to this he held senior roles at Huawei Technologies, SF Express and Deloitte. He also founded ALA Financial – a company focused on leveraging the power of micro-financing to support young investors and borrowers. 

Mr Hsu has a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and an MSc in Information Systems and Management at Carnegie Mellon University in the US.

Karina Chan works as Head of Post-Trade Systems in the Information Technology Division of HKEX. She oversees the design, implementation and operations of related market systems which provides post trade services for Cash, Derivatives and FIC markets. Karina has worked closely with business and delivered a variety of initiatives over last 10 years, including Stock and Swap Connect programmes.

Jacky Mak has been working in financial services and consulting industry for over 20 years. His roles have included chief financial officer of the Hong Kong and Taiwan branch of Societe Generale's corporate and investment banking unit and director, OTC Clearing product development of HSBC's global banking and markets group in Hong Kong.    Before joining HKEX, he was a Hong Kong-based director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's global markets division. 

In addition to an undergraduate degree in computer science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Mr Mak has an MBA and a Master's degree in investment management from HKUST.    He also has completed the advanced management programme of French graduate business school INSEAD.

His department is responsible for covering new and existing product sales/marketing and business development initiatives of institutional clients across sell-side exchange participants, buy-side investors and custody banks. 

Yoo has over 28 years of industry experience with 14 years at CME Group in Chicago and Asia. Since joining HKEx in 2011, he was responsible for Platform Development & Strategy, Client Business Development and FIC Development. He was a key member of stock & bond connect launch, OTC Clear launch, BRICS exchanges alliance and London Metal Exchange (LME) acquisition. Prior to CME, he worked at Sumitomo Mitsui Bank and Goldman Sachs & Co in Chicago. 

Yoo has been named an inventor on nine U.S. patents on derivatives risk management applications.

Miyuki Shew serves as Vice President in Global Client Development at HKEX Markets Division, where she is responsible for relationship management and business development initiatives of custody banks. Miyuki has over 16 years of experience in Securities Services specializing in relationship management, market change management and product commercialization, with proven track record in driving the effective launch of new products, services and market initiatives.

Prior to joining HKEX in 2022, Miyuki was Regional Head, Market Insights, Greater China and North Asia, Financing & Securities Services (FSS) at Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. She led a regional Market Insights team that improved the market information services empowering clients to translate market information to actionable insights. She also worked in Standard Chartered Securities Services client service team covering the relationship management and market development of institutional clients supporting the introduction of Renminbi securities in Hong Kong market, launch of China-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Bond Connect schemes, etc.
