Highlights

- Securities Market

Market capitalisation was $31.8 trillion at the end of August 2024, an increase of 2 per cent from $31.1 trillion at the end of July 2024.
The average daily turnover in August 2024 and for the first eight months was $95.5 billion and $106.8 billion respectively.
The average daily turnover of Debt Securities for the first eight months of 2024 was $570 million, an increase of 19 per cent when compared with $480 million for the same period last year.
There were 43 newly listed companies for the first eight months of 2024, an increase of 10 per cent when compared for the same period last year.

- Derivatives Market

The average daily volume of futures and options for the first eight months of 2024 was 1,473,911 contracts, an increase of 7 per cent when compared with the 1,371,770 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of Stock Options for the first eight months of 2024 was 670,560 contracts, an increase of 7 per cent when compared with the 625,679 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of Stock Futures for the first eight months of 2024 was 7,806 contracts, an increase of 12 per cent when compared with the 6,961 contracts for the same period last year.
The average daily volume of RMB Currency Futures for the first eight months of 2024 was 86,010 contracts, an increase of 232 per cent when compared with the 25,909 contracts for the same period last year.
On 26 August 2024, the volume of MSCI India (USD) Index Futures reached a record high of 16,046 contracts.
