Between May and July this year, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) organised a series of seminars and workshops on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting for listed companies. The aim was to raise ESG awareness and encourage listed companies to start ESG reporting. The seminars and workshops were conducted by external consultants specialising in ESG reporting.
The consultants conducted five half-day seminars and 10 full-day workshops, which were based on a draft ESG Reporting Guide. Eight hundred twenty three participants from 498 listed companies attended the seminars and 518 participants from 348 listed companies attended the workshops. The seminars and workshops were well received by participants, who gave positive feedback.
The draft ESG Reporting Guide, seminar and workshop materials and frequently asked questions can be downloaded from the HKEx website.
"We believe the seminars and workshops have achieved the aim of raising ESG awareness," said Mark Dickens, HKEx’s Head of Listing. "As a next step, we plan to consult the public on the draft ESG Reporting Guide later this year. We may also consider providing more training in the future if there is demand for it."
