Programme Overview

The HKEX Management Trainee Programme aims to nurture bright, young talent. We’ll help our Management Trainees lay the foundation for a rewarding and challenging career in global financial markets. This intensive, 24-month development programme will combine interactive learning, financial skills training and senior management exposure with on-the-job experience. Management Trainees will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders inside and outside the business, who will help them to grow and succeed.

Classroom Training
Management Trainees will go through intensive training with the goal of nurturing their leadership skills, teamwork abilities, professional knowledge and soft skills. Highlights of the training include leadership challenges, skills development, presentations, and many more. Ongoing training will continue to be offered over the 24 month programme.


Departmental Familiarisation
Management Trainees will go through a four-week departmental familiarisation covering all divisions inside HKEX including Listing, Markets, Post Trade, Market Development and Group Risk. Management Trainees will attend sharing sessions by senior staff from each department and go through on-the-job training to experience what it is like to work on the front lines in a particular department for a day.


Divisional Sponsorship
Each of our Management Trainees will be sponsored by one of our five business divisions. Wherever Management Trainees are placed, they will have the chance to work within three or four different departments within the division. Management Trainees will get hands-on experience and a broad overview of HKEX’s business and operations. Through collaboration in cross-divisional projects and programmes, Management Trainees will develop their skills while building a strong network of internal partners. What Else?

Strong Support – Management Trainee Managers and staff from each division will provide guidance and coaching to Management Trainee to facilitate their learning.

Regular Training – Management Trainees will be provided with additional training throughout the Programme to equip them with the skills required for their daily work and personal development.

Social Activities – Management Trainees will interact regularly with senior management and other staff in social activities outside of work.
